“The rock show of all rock shows”
- hi Fi Way
our story
Winner of Adelaide Fringe’s Best Music Award in 2021, this must-see show has fans praying to the rock gods as a cast of living legends celebrate the late, great members of the 27 Club.
Produced by South Australian production company, Amplified House, 27 Club salutes the rock star icons who left us too early, aged only 27 – Hendrix, Joplin, Cobain, Winehouse, and Morrison – each the musical voice of their generation.
The show stars a rotating cast of our favourite Australian artists including Sarah McLeod (The Superjesus), Kevin Mitchell (Bob Evans, Jebediah), Carla Lippis (Mondo Psycho) and Dusty Lee Stephensen (Wanderers), Justin Burford (End of Fashion), Virginia Lillye (Lillye, The Voice) and Bek Jensen, as well as a band featuring some of Australia’s finest musicians.
Come as you are as we share lore and music of artists that captivate us to this day.
27 Club was conceived by Creative Producer Zac Tyler in 2013, and had its World Premiere at the 2015 Adelaide Cabaret Festival with a sell out season which was produced and directed by Tahli Corin, written by Joshua Tyler and co-produced by Ruth Blythman (Release Creative). The World Premiere season featured top original Australian artists Henry Wagons (Wagons, Double J), Hayley Mary (The Jezebels), Daniel Champagne and Carla Lippis. The show received standing ovations and glowing critical responses, showing its promise for things to come.
After a short hiatus, 27 Club came back revamped and ready to rock the largest outdoor stage in Gluttony for the 2021 Adelaide Fringe. This updated version won the Weekly Music Award and the overall Best Music Award for the 2021 Adelaide Fringe. It was in 2021 when the current line up first played together, forming a club of their very own. The show has gone from strength to strength and now in 2023, it has played to over 20,000 people at Adelaide Fringe and has received standing ovations at every performance.
27 Club is now spreading its Little Wing (see what we did there) by taking its signature style of storytelling and music making across the nation in what can be described as a live rockumentary.
